Who makes TiON suppressors, and where?

TiON, Inc. designs and machines all of its suppressors in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. We are a veteran owned and operated company, founded and led by our President, Scott Morris. Every suppressor we build must meet the same rigorous standards: all-titanium construction, a weld-free design, and complete user serviceability.

Our roots trace back to Freedom Armory, a family firearms business Scott and Janette founded in New Freedom, Pennsylvania, in 1992. Over the next two decades it grew into a full indoor shooting range, a training facility with instructors, a gunsmithing shop, and 5,000 square feet of retail. Suppressor manufacturing started in 2012 as a division called Freedom Armory Machine Works. In 2019 that division was spun off and renamed TiON, Inc. What does TiON stand for, and how do you say it?

TiON is short for Titanium On, and it's pronounced tie-on. Titanium is all we build with, and it goes on your firearm. You'll hear people say tee-on, and we answer to it either way, but tie-on is the one.

What makes TiON different?

Every current TiON suppressor is machined from solid titanium bar stock using a weld-free design that reduces weight while maintaining strength and durability. The Skirmisher, being released later this year, is machined from Titanium tube. Every model also features our Total Breakdown Technology (TBT), allowing every internal component to be removed, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled using common everyday tools. Finally, we keep our suppressors as compact as practical, using the smallest suppressor diameter we can machine while still fitting beneath many of the most common metal handguards and forends.

Are TiON suppressors really all titanium?

Yes. Every TiON suppressor is manufactured using titanium, including 6AL-4V and Grade 9 (GR9) titanium where appropriate for the design. Titanium provides an excellent balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and reduced weight, allowing us to build suppressors that remain extremely durable without adding any unnecessary weight to the firearm. Whether you're carrying a hunting rifle across rough terrain or spending a full day on the range, every ounce matters. Titanium also resists corrosion extremely well, helping the suppressor maintain its performance and appearance over the life of the suppressor. For us, titanium isn't simply a marketing feature. It is the foundation of every suppressor we manufacture.

Can you take a TiON suppressor apart to clean it?

Yes. Every TiON suppressor features Total Breakdown Technology, making it completely user-serviceable. Many suppressors on the market are permanently sealed. While they may perform well, they are generally not intended to be disassembled by the owner, and warranties may be voided if done so. Carbon, fouling, and debris build up inside the suppressor throughout its service life, leaving cleaning options limited and performance degraded over time.

With a TiON suppressor, every internal component can be removed, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled using common tools. This is the reason our suppressors last as long as they do. A suppressor you can fully service is a suppressor you can keep running for decades, and routine maintenance is what protects that performance over the long haul.

What is Gas Indexing Technology (GIT)?

Gas Indexing Technology (GIT) is TiON's patented baffle-indexing system covered under U.S. Patent 9,410,761. It allows shooters to tune gas flow between higher- and lower-pressure hosts by indexing the internal baffle assembly. This is done by indexing the baffles into different orientations, depending on whether the host has a short or long barrel. The result is up to 3db. reduction in noise, depending on the host.

GIT is designed for rimfire and pistol calibers, and you will find it on four models: the Minuteman, the Grenadier, the Dragoon 350 QD, and the Dragoon .450 Bushmaster. The two Dragoon models carry it because they also run pistol calibers, and on the .450 Bushmaster the feature applies to those pistol calibers specifically.

GIT is not used on our other centerfire rifle suppressors, including the Dragoon 5.56, 7.62, 9mm Mini, 8.6 QD, .338 QD, and .500 QD. The internal pressures of centerfire rifle calibers are such that the technology doesn't provide a benefit, so those suppressors are engineered around a different approach. What does TiON make?

TiON manufactures suppressors for rifles, handguns, and rimfire firearms.

The Dragoon series includes rifle suppressors for 5.56 NATO, 7.62 NATO, 8.6 Blackout, .338, .350 Legend, .450 Bushmaster, and .500 caliber applications. The Dragoon Mini offers a more compact option while sharing the same Quick Detach mounting system.

The Grenadier lineup includes dedicated 9mm and .45 ACP handgun suppressors featuring both Total Breakdown Technology and Gas Indexing Technology. All three Grenadier suppressors are capable of handling .357 Mag, .350 Legend, and even .300 BLK.

The Minuteman is our all-titanium rimfire suppressor featuring the same Total Breakdown Technology with Gas Indexing Technology, just like our other pistol caliber suppressors. More than just a .22 LR suppressor, the Minuteman can be used on other calibers like the .22 WMR and can handle the FN 5.7x28mm as well.

Joining the lineup later this year is the Skirmisher, TiON's HUB-compatible suppressor designed to give shooters greater flexibility across multiple rifle platforms.

Can one TiON suppressor be used for multiple calibers?

Yes, many TiON suppressors are rated for multiple calibers, allowing you to get more value from a single suppressor. Instead of buying a separate suppressor for every firearm, many shooters use one suppressor across several compatible rifles by following the caliber ratings for that specific model.

The Dragoon series is designed with versatility in mind. Depending on the model, it can support multiple calibers within its published ratings, making it easier to move from one rifle to another while maintaining consistent performance. The Dragoon and Dragoon Mini also share the same Quick Detach (QD) mounting system, giving shooters a familiar attachment method across both product lines.

One important detail often gets overlooked. Although the Dragoon and Dragoon Mini use the same QD mounting system, the Mini has its own Mini Muzzle Brake for shooters who want to use that as their muzzle device instead of the normal mount. Before using any suppressor on multiple firearms, review the caliber ratings and mounting requirements for that specific model in the user manual. Using the correct suppressor with the proper host firearm helps ensure safe, reliable performance.

How does TiON test its suppressors?

We believe published specifications should be backed by a repeatable testing process, not marketing claims. That's why every sound measurement we publish follows the same documented methodology. TiON tests suppressors using Mil-Std 1474D procedures with professional Brüel & Kjær (B&K) sound measurement equipment. Sound levels are measured one meter from the muzzle, averaged over ten rounds, and published alongside the host firearm, barrel length, ammunition, and testing conditions. That gives shooters meaningful data they can accurately compare.

Just as important as the sound numbers is the context behind them. Every specification is published alongside the firearm, barrel length, ammunition, and testing conditions used during evaluation. That allows shooters to understand exactly how the results were obtained instead of comparing numbers collected under completely different conditions.
